TRP invites you to Tap Rhythm Jam Nottingham – the first ever tap jam in the East Midlands!

A Tap Jam is a place for tap dancers to improvise with musicians and other tap dancers. So bring tap shoes, instruments or simply your good selves along to experience the magical musical mayhem of tap dance as you’ve never seen it before!

Everyone is welcome whether to take part or simply watch and enjoy. Tap Rhythm Jams are open to dancers of all levels of experience from complete beginners to professional performers. We even have tap shoes that you can use if you don’t have your own!

There will be a group improvisation workshop before the main jam starts for you to try improvising in a low key environment and learn some easy approaches to get you started. The jam will open with a performance by performance trio Untold Rhythm with Jess Murray (Rhythm Tap), Dave ‘Stickman’ Higgins (Drums and Percussion) and Andy Metcalfe (Guitar). Becky’s fantastic Global Cafe will be serving tasty Tapas treats and non-alcoholic drinks.

7:30pm – 9:00pm Tap Jam open to everyone to dance, play or watch and enjoy!

Entry to the whole event starting from 6:30pm including a tap improvisation workshop and performance by Untold Rhythm is £5 or £4 concessions with free entry for those under 14yrs.

Entry to the tap jam starting at 7:30pm is FREE

Now in it's 24th year, Heather Cornell has been offering her Rhythm
Tap Intensive, a professional training session for tap dancers of all
styles and levels. This is the place where rhythm tap dancers go to
hone their craft and to work in a positive community. It is 60 hours
of classes with real interaction with musicians in the classes. The
focus is on improving the dancer's individual physical musical
instincts and on bringing forth each artist's unique voice.

Where: Valley Cottage, NY, just 20 minutes north of NYC
When: July 21 – Aug. 1, 2014
Room and Board for just $60/night: Beautifully situated close to
Rockland Lake State Park, and with a bus stop for the NYC bus on the
grounds, students stay at the 15-acre Tolstoy Foundation, 2 miles from
studio. Included in the price is a 3 course dinner.

Jess Murray is one of the UK’s leading Rhythm Tap teachers and performers. She trained in New York, Berlin and Barcelona with many of the masters and was resident tap teacher at LIPA. Jess has performed with world class dancers and musicians at venues such as London SouthBank for London Jazz Festival and Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club in Solo.
